alizon gray

Alizon Gray lives and works in the inner northern suburbs of Naarm / Melbourne. Since gaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts – Honors in 2005 at the Victorian College of the Arts, Alizon has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions, and has been a finalist in prestigious prizes including the John Leslie Art Prize, Bayside Acquisitive Art Prize, and Muswellbrook Art Prize amongst others.

Alizon has become known for her layered abstract painting style and use of vibrant complementary colours. With no specific outcome in mind and taking an intuitive spontaneous approach to her work, each painting is a journey for the artist as she seeks a delicate balance between the forms and space that naturally evolve toward the point of resolution.

Alizon’s paintings have been collected into private and corporate collections in Australia, New Zealand, North America, and Europe.

“Through layers of diverse mark making and harmonious colours I aim to create spaces for reflection and meditation. I hope to paint spaces that are a respite from the everyday and allow a quiet moment to pause. I often feel that the world is chaos so I want my paintings be a counterpoint to that.”
