Polly Kimmorley

Polly was born in Dubbo, NSW and has lived most of her life in far Western NSW. Polly has been painting since early 1980, having nurtured an interest in painting before receiving her first set of paints when she was a young child. Largely self taught, Polly has escaped the constraints of formal training, although she has studied with several prominent and professional artists for short terms over the years going on to develop her own style, which is traditional leaning to contemporary, from still-life to landscapes.

Polly is an established and very versatile artist, expressing her passion for colour in both water colour and acrylic. Her work varies dramatically, from flowers with explosions of vibrant colour, which express her true love, to the vastness of the Australian Outback, which she has experienced, after living there for 40 years. Polly says, “Watercolour has been my dominant medium for more than 15 years. I have discovered the dynamic excitement of acrylic which expresses my love for colour.

Inspiration comes from many sources with the loose style she handles so well, lending itself to the subjects she selects along with the chosen medium. Her environment is filled with burst of colour showing love of the landscape at the same time being very comfortable with still life, which she paints spontaneously.

Polly has been recognized by winning awards and holding many successful axhibtions. Her works are presented in rural, regional and metroplitan galleries throughout NSW and can can be found in homes & Offices in England, America, Japan and South Africa.
