ARTEMIS - Janna Hayes & Zoë Tjanavaras

17 October - 9 November 2025

Artemis brings together the ceramics of Zoë Tjanavaras with the painted works of Janna Hayes in a celebration of abstraction and exploration of identity, memory, and the human desire to belong.

Rooted in Greek ancestry, rural landscapes, and personal mythology, the exhibition weaves together the tactile language of ceramic vessels with abstract paintings that express emotional depth and vulnerability.

Balancing control with instinct, each piece reflects a raw, honest engagement with self and place, echoing the goddess Artemis as a symbol of solitude, resilience, and the wild tension between connection and independence.

This collection continues an exploration of identity. In earlier work, identity was framed in relation to place and landscape. Here, I have turned inward — into abstraction — pursuing a more direct and unfiltered expression.

My pieces merge the landscapes of my immediate environment with personal experiences, memories, mythology, and the traditions of a migrant family.
