Artists are invited to submit exceptional work exploring 'Interiors'—focusing on physical architectures, domestic sanctuaries, and the beauty of lived-in spaces. This juried exhibition seeks bold, refined artistic voices. Alongside the main cash prize, a People's Choice Award will celebrate community impact.
The Tradition of the Interior
This prize honors the rich lineage of the interior scene in Australian art history. Moving far beyond static still lifes*, this tradition captures the everyday human experience through light, space, and memory within built environments. We welcome contemporary entries that dialogue with this legacy—evoking the intimate, atmospheric domestic worlds famously explored by masters like Grace Cossington Smith, Margaret Olley, and Cressida Campbell.
*Please note that still life artworks will not be accepted. Please think about if your artwork focuses on a small group of non-living objects (Still Life) or does it focus on a room, an interior, and how space is arranged with or without objects in that space. We welcome 2D and 3D artwork submissions.
