Draw with the Artist: A Guided Drawing Experience

Join featured exhibition artist Deb Michell-Smith for an intimate drawing class designed for all levels—no prior experience needed. Whether you’re new to drawing or returning to your practice, this session offers hands-on guidance in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Following the class, the gallery opens for a special drop-in viewing. Visitors can see the artwork created during the session, explore the exhibition, Along the Way, and meet both the participants and Deb in person.

Space is limited to a maximum number of participants, ensuring personal instruction and a meaningful creative experience. Advance booking is required.

About Deb

Deb Michell-Smith is a regional Australian artist based in rural New South Wales. Her practice is grounded in drawing and painting, with a strong focus on storytelling through landscape and portraiture. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, Deb is drawn to the quiet patterns of place like roads, trees, waterways and agricultural land and how people move through and live alongside them.

Repetition, line and pattern play an important role in her paintings, echoing the marks made by weather, work and human presence on the land.

Drawing class details

• 1.5 hours duration - drawing class 1 hour including warm up exercises & main drawing session, followed by reflections, chat and refreshments

• Commencing at 12 noon, Saturday 21 February, at Weswal Gallery, 192 Brisbane Street, Tamworth.

• All materials provided (paint-free) - graphite pencils, charcoal, conte’s, drawing paper - chairs, tables & easels available for your use

• Light refreshments provided - please advise of any dietary requirements

• Cost $15 per person (inclusive)

• Participants should be aged 16 and over

Deb regularly exhibits across regional and metropolitan galleries. She works from her rural home studio, where the surrounding landscape continues to inform and inspire her practice.

Refund Policy

Cancellations made at least 4 days prior to the event are eligible for a refund, less an administration processing fee. Credit towards other classes, workshops, product sales or events is not available.
Cancellations made within 3 days of the event are not eligible for a refund.
