Draw with the Artists: A Guided Drawing Experience
Join featured exhibition artists Susie Mander & Margaret Westcott for a drawing class designed for all levels—no prior experience needed.
This class is suitable for beginners and young people aged over 16 who want to learn how to interpret the landscape with confidence. A mark-making warm up will be followed by time working outside “en plein air” where students will have the opportunity to speak to the artists and receive one-on-one feedback while they work. Students will complete sketched studies to take home with them as reference material they can use to develop a painting or larger body of work.
Whether you’re new to drawing or returning to your practice, this session offers hands-on guidance in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Space is limited to a maximum number of participants, ensuring personal instruction and a meaningful creative experience. Advance booking is required.
About Margaret & Susie
Margaret Westcott & Susie Mander are both exhibiting in Weswal’s ‘Everything the Land Remembered’ - Artists’ residency at Goonoo Goonoo Station.
Margaret Westcott is inspired by people and the environment. She works in all mediums often focusing on the figure and landscape.
Originally a painter but upon completion of her Master of Art at COFA she moved to ceramics.
Margaret has undertaken a number of field trips, workshops and artist residencies, including Fowlers Gap, Broken Hill, Ibud in Bali and Assisi, Umbria Italy.
She established the Cornucopia Art Group in 2006 and manages the Gladesville Pottery Studio at the historic Gladesville Hospital.
Susie Mander’s dynamic and gestural work explores her connection to the country where she grew up and the city where she now lives. Her exploration of the "Blue Mind" theory, an examination of the restorative qualities of water vistas, earned her an Honourable Mention from Ken Done for a seascape in the 2022 Rowers Art Prize. In 2025, she participated in artist residencies in both Goonoo Goonoo and Tamworth. She has exhibited with the Willoughby Art Centre, Mosman Rowers and Lifeline, and has donated works for the Incognito Art Show. Mander balances her studio work with a dedicated teaching practice, using a Master of Education from the University of Sydney to facilitate workshops that empower students to experiment and grow.
